“Lee is a very smart, technically gifted person with strong management capabilities. He's very high-level and will certainly achieve some things,” said Wu Canwei.

Young and ambitious Lee faced his first major setback at Huawei. Around the year 2000, Lee's position underwent adjustments, and he successively served as Huawei Electrical President and Director of the American Research Institute.

At that time, Ren Zhengfei advocated for "internal entrepreneurship." Lee was dissatisfied and left after a year of deliberation; Ren accepted his resignation.

A group of Huawei people followed him out to form Harbour Networks. The company seemed to be born with an emotional tone: everywhere it went, it made sure not to let Huawei feel good about itself; it became the latter's most promising competitor. Clearly, it highlighted Lee's talent.

But Ren Zhengfei was old-schooled in strategy. In 2006, Huawei emulated Cisco by acquiring Harbour Networks; Lee returned to Huawei as Chief Scientist for Telecommunications Science & Vice President. By the end of 2007, he became Vice President of Terminal Company at Huawei; his internal ranking had reached beyond the top ten.

Lee sank into despair once more. A colleague who worked with him during this period on engineering projects revealed that in their eyes, Lee was a "god-like figure" who inspired many admirers.

However,"after returning home twice," Li rarely appeared in internal meetings anymore (Lz13.cn). According to Liu Si Jia (a pseudonym), Li could carry spiritual leadership within research development but might not be effective in other systems like marketing sales because Huawe i has a powerful sales system. Wu Canwei expressed that Li did not handle competitive relationships well when leaving Huawe i initially; therefore his second departure was inevitable.

Two years later, Li indeed chose to leave again and joined Baidu as CTO but left after just over a year there too. About Li's work during his time at Baidu , one senior communications industry media professional told our newspaper: "Once there was an error during working hours at Baidu . All employees received an email from Lei Jun where he took full responsibility for all mistakes made by himself."

It seems then that by this time Le e had mellowed away from youthful ambition s . His former colleague Meng Si Fei (pseudonym) recalled: Though they were no longer colleagues now , everyone still admired him greatly .

However , even though he excelled both professionally & personally , ultimately Le e decided t o leave Baidu too - joining Novaline Technologies as CEO instead - reportedly after being persuaded by its founder Lei Jun for quite some time before making up her mind . However according t o someone who used t o work alongside Le e back @Baidu : though h e w s great & liked b y staff alike - yet n ow f orced under China Mobile 's control @Novaline Tech ., l ong term prospects looked uncertain due t o coordination issues .

Sure enough , just short while later - amid China Mobile 's anti-corruption drive- L ee announced another departure fr om Novaline Tech., much like how others found themselves caught up in similar circumstances around them — raising questions abt th timing nd th reasons behind these events .
