Seasonal smoke curling around his lips, he chuckled as he looked at the interview outline. This was a man who was known for his wit and humor, but also for his sharp business acumen.
The story of Season's entrepreneurial journey began in 2005 when he founded HanTing Express Hotel. At that time, China's economy hotel industry was experiencing a hot investment boom. With the success of Like Home's listing on the US market, many entrepreneurs rushed into the market to establish their own brands. However, Season chose not to follow the crowd.
"I thought if I were to return and do it again," he said with a smile, "I would be able to do better and become one of the best."
Season had always been focused on providing good service and attention to detail. He believed that these factors set HanTing apart from its competitors. For example, HanTing offered free high-speed internet access in each room, something that few other hotels could match at that time.
However, even with these advantages, there were still challenges ahead. In 2008, during the financial crisis, HanTing faced difficulties in securing funding for its expansion plans. Despite this setback,
Season remained committed to his vision of creating a professional management company within three years through strategic partnerships and acquisitions.
In 2010,
HanTing successfully completed its second round of financing with an investment worth $850 million.
Today,
HanTing is one of China's leading economy hotel chains with over 1
000 hotels worldwide.
So what is Season's secret? According to him:
"You have two assumptions: one is if your life only has three days left or three months left; another is if you are going to live for another 150 years."
He continued: "The first assumption tells us which things we should do in our lives; while the second assumption tells us which things we should not do."
For Season,
the key lies in understanding customer needs:
"We have always tried hard from day one," he said.
